1. A WES Event: Girls into STEM, George Watson's College, 13 November 2010
This was an event for 70 S4-S5 girls from schools across central Scotland. Nine
activities were arranged on a Friday afternoon and each girl took part in three
activities. The event was organized by myself, Gail Miller from George Watson's
College and Ronna Montgomery for the Institute of Physics (IoP). The event was
so successful that Gail organized a full day event in 2010.
2. Doris Gray Student Conference, Barcelo Carlton Hotel, Edinburgh,
14-15 November 2010. This was a two day event for 45 female engineering
students across the UK (Scotland, England and Wales). On Saturday morning
there were presentations by inspiring females such as Female Inventor of 2008,
Tanya Ewing and Elektra 2008 Student Engineer of the Year winner Nazish Aslam.
After lunch there was a treasure hunt followed by more presentation. On Saturday
evening the after dinner speaker was Fiona Hyslop MP. Saturday evening finished
with a ghost tour. Training sessions were provided on Sunday. More information
